Day 10: Self Portrait

It's a bit hard to take a self portrait when you're holding a baby.

Journaling: High, Low and Funny

One of my goals this year is to become better at writing in my journal. As a way to keep it interesting and exciting is by having a different theme for each month. Everyday for the month of January the theme was high, low and funny.

I started out strong; something happened and I forgot to write for 3 days and then I felt as if I was playing a game of catch-up. You know what though? I completed the month of January!

Reading back on my highs, lows and funnies for this past month made me realize how fast this month has gone by. Seriously though, we've survived a whole month in the year 2012!!! Also, as I went back and read about my month I realized either there were a lot of repeats (or closely related). I made the executive decision of only sharing a few of each. Let's do the math, 31x3= my brain hurts.... wait, where's my calculator? when I was in 4th grade and would want to use a calculator during math my teacher always said that when I'm older I would never carry a calculator around with me everywhere. Little the he know that there would be a calculator on my cell phone.... MY PHONE!!! Where did I put it?... 93 entries in my journal this month!

Highs
1. Taking ukulele lessons with my dad
2. Wine tasting with Abby and Megan
3. Hanging out with friends from college group on Friday nights

Lows
1. Spent my whole paycheck on medication that may save my life one day... Epi-Pen and an inhailor (plus some other allergy medications)
2. Watched the movie Insedious. Worst decision ever! I don't do scary movies AT ALL!!!
3. My mom and I got in a very, very, very bad arguement.

Funnies
1. Playing with my Epi-Pen training device and giving my mom a heart attack every time.
2. Courtney and I went to BevMo, as she was looking for a particular wine I noticed a bottle that said mores code I pointed it out to Courtney. She asked, "I wonder if it has those little bumpy things?" as she reached for the bottle. I was quick to inform her that it's not braille! Sorry Courtney, it's too funny to not share!
3. Riley (Courtney's dog) attacked herself in the mirror! growling and everything!

There you have it my month of journaling for January in a nutshell.

For the month of February I will be jotting down 29 things I love. Fitting right?

My golden birthday is in 24 days! A"golden birthday" is when the date of your birthday and age are the same. I'm turning 24!!! As of right now I don't have any plans for my birthday, but may be on a road trip... I'll explain more on that later. I was pinning a few months back and I saw a birthday story that I'm thinking about copying because I love the idea so much. This lady was turning 30 and to celebrate, but in a different fashion, she did 30 random acts of kindness to complete strangers! I absolutely love the idea of serving others on your birthday.

Have you ever heard of "golden birthdays"? Did you celebrate your "golden birthday"?

Journaling: High, low and funny

The journaling theme for January is high, low and funny. Everyday for the month of January I will reminisce about the highs, the lows and the funnies. At the end of the month I will share all 31 days worth.

Resolutions

I'm not one to actually follow trough with resolutions. So this year I've made some short term goals. I'll share with a lot more detail when they've been completed and maybe a few details along the way for a couple of them.

Here's my list:
1. Be more active for a month (walking, running, biking, rock climbing, etc.) I figure I'll continue it for longer but to start I think setting it for a month is enough to make it happen!
2. Journal everyday (a theme per month to make life interesting)
3. Take ukelele lessons (they start on the 18th!)
4. Hangout with friends more often!!!
5. Travel more!

There you have it several goals that I've made for 2012 so far! I'm excited to achieve these goals and add more to the list!

It's been awhile

Time is what we want most, but... what we use worst.  ~William Penn

Instead of trying to fill you in on the past 6 months of the year...

man, has it really been 6 months?

Maybe I should recap...  Nah! I'll spare you all of the details of two of my siblings weddings that were just barely a month apart!

What I really want to share with you is that I've made a few changes. Without further ado:
  1. I changed the name of my blog! I've been in the blogging world for almost 4 years and I really wasn't attached to "Grace Like Reign". I've thought of a couple new names but didn't really think they fit me or my blog if you know what I mean. For the past 2 or more years I have really been chasing after something. I've been through so many struggles in the last year or so and seeking and yearning the love of God to consume me and never let me go. The truth that is so apparent in Jesus' life and love for others. I've wanted that truth. The new name fits my life perfectly and I'm so excited for this fresh start as "Chasing Truth".

  2. I changed the URL! Now you can find me at http://kaitmontague.blogspot.com/

  3. I changed the layout! I'm not sold with the layout right now, but I'm figuring out exactly what I want and how I want it.

I will eventually get around to telling you all about my summer.

OK, so maybe I won't... but if you really, really want to know what I've been up to because you'll just dye if I don't tell you then leave a comment and I'll respond with a post.

Backwards complements

I'm a bad blogger and I'm sorry...

Seriously though, something happened a little over a week ago, and I didn't even think to blog about it.

A couple of Wednesday's ago I had a doctors appointment, it was an annual eye exam. Nothing too big of a deal. My eyes aren't really that bad, but I do have a hard time seeing things (I'm far sighted if that helps). Well I was due for a new pair of glasses and had some help from one of the workers. I wanted a straight up honest opinion on which of 3 glasses looked better on me.

These are the glasses I ended up getting. I really, really like them!

Fast forward to yesterday evening...
My hair was super straight and I was wearing my new glasses. My brother stopped by to pick something up and talk to my parents. He noticed my new glasses and says, "you look like Courtney now". To me this is the strangest of things. Why? Because to be honest Courtney and I look nothing a like. Yes we look related. But I've never been told I look like Courtney (she's blonde, has green/blue eyes, she's more fair skinned than me and not freckly). I'm so used to being recognized as Christian or Paige's little sister (Paige and I looked like twins as we were growing up Christian and I well let's just say I'm the girl version of him).

I'm not upset with the comment Christian made. I know he didn't mean it as a bad thing. It just caught me off guard is all. Courtney is gorgeous. I'm glad that as I grow older I'm starting to look more like my oldest sister.

What (not) to wear

I briefly mentioned that I'm going on a date this week. I'm clueless on what to wear or not wear.

My date is with someone I've been friends with for a few years now and has actually seen me at my worst (allergic reactions at camp... Actually just camp in general). So I don't want to go over the top with what I wear. However our date will take place in San Francisco ( I've always thought you have to dress up when you go into a big city... Is this true?). We will have dinner and go to a concert.

Do you need pictures of a few items from my closet? Maybe a few outfits that I've thought of?
What do you suggest I wear? Are jeans too casual? Is a nice dress too formal? HELP! I don't know what to wear (or not to wear)!

Meat lovers

Since the beginning of December I have not been a red meat eater. My family usually has some sort of red meat at least 2x a week. Hamburger is fine but steak, tri tip, prime rib, etc. I become nauseous just from the sight and smell of them.

It's literally been 6 months since I've had red meat... Ok well, I'm not counting hamburgers, I love me some hamburgers!!! But in all honesty I have had one meal, a tri-tip sandwich, and it didn't satisfy me like it used to.

I used to crave steak, but now the only way I'll eat red meat is in hamburger form (In-n-Out to be exact).

Have you ever stopped eating/drinking something because you got sick? Or just it doesn't appeal to you anymore?
